Ever wonder if AADL owns any books in Polish? How about in Malayalam? Now you can easily look at the items AADL owns in any language by visiting our new Foreign Language Browsing Page. Click on any language in this listing to see all of the items in that language or select a type of item within each one. You can always get to the list of languages from the Browse By Format section of our Catalog Page. Take a look at AADL for your favorite DVDs in Danish and CDs in Swahili or teach yourself a new language by selecting AV Language Study. Tree Town in Top Ten Again

Add Tree Town to another Top Ten list ... the Center for Digital Government and Digital Communities ranked the City of Ann Arbor the 7th Best Digital City in the country. The City's website was honored for the Citizen Request System, GIS resources, MyProperty, and TRAKiT, a new online service offering 24/7 lookup of permits, registrations and inspections.

New online collection profiles the founders of Ann Arbor

AADL is pleased to present a new collection, The Ford Gallery of Ann Arbor Founders, based on the permanent exhibit located in the Michigan Theater. You can browse the exhibit panels, which include such topics as early settlers, women who made a mark on the community, and the people who made the parks. Click on any image for a larger view or "read this panel" for a text-only version. You can also browse all the founders by name and search the collection by keyword. The permanent exhibit was funded by the Ford Motor Company Fund, with the cooperation of the Michigan Theater and the Bentley Historical Library.

National Survivors of Suicide Day Teleconference at Malletts Creek

November 22nd is National Survivors of Suicide Day and the 10th annual teleconference sponsored by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention reaching over 170 sites across the country.

You can register to watch the conference on your computer at home or you can attend the teleconference at the Malletts Creek branch from 12 to 3 pm. Registration is not required for the teleconference at Malletts Creek. The 90 minute conference will broadcast from 1 to 2:30 pm EST.

Seeing in the Dark chosen for 2009 Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti Reads

Timothy Ferris’s Seeing In The Dark: How Amateur Astronomers Are Discovering The Wonders Of The Universe has been chosen as 2009's Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti Reads. The eleven-member selection team, composed of community members, educators, students and librarians from the Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti area, chose author Timothy Ferris's poetic love letter to science and the skies to align with the University of Michigan's 2009 theme semester, The Universe: Yours To Discover.
